I grew up in Southbourne in the 1960s. The beach was our playground and we loved it. We lamented that there was nowhere for us to just relax with a drink or a snack. I live in Canada now and was enchanted to discover SOBO, what a cool place for all age groups! The whole creation was inspired, I gravitate to SOBO with my local friends every time I visit, it’s a huge bonus for locals and tourists alike and would be thrilled to bring my grandkids here one day. SOBO must endure!

I drag every friend, or visiting family member or friend coming to the area to Sobo for a coffee or drinks and food on the beach. The kids have learned how to boogie to silent disco, I do the yoga on the beach events and early morning discos, it’s our second home being just a five-minute walk. We moved to the area four years ago when they built Sobo beach I remember the beetle being transported down the beach, the vivid colours & local spray art. It wouldn’t have been the same without it sadly.

This is a great venue. Good food and drink for a reasonable price right by the beach. The visitors here are well behaved. The staff are amazing. We should have more venues like this on the beach, run by local people for local people.

It’s a great cafe / restaurant bar and has everything the local community and holidaymakers need rapped up in a way that reflects the friendly beachgoing community . To put it simply the present setup fits like a glove and to change its appearance or format would be a grave mistake . Please please keep sobo beach as it is 🙏
