This policy explains how the Save SOBO Beach campaign website (savesobo.com) handles the information you give us when you sign the petition.
What we collect
- Your full name and email address, which you enter into the petition form.
- Optionally, your postcode (the first half is enough), if you choose to give it. We use it only to show how much support is local.
- Whether you ticked the optional box agreeing to your details being stored for the purposes of this petition.
- The date and time you signed.
To help protect the form from spam, your IP address is briefly processed by the website server (for rate limiting) and, where enabled, by Cloudflare Turnstile. We do not store your IP address with your signature.
Why we collect it
We collect your name and email so the petition can show genuine support for SOBO Beach, to count each person once, and to prevent duplicate or fake sign-ups.
How it is stored
Signatures are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase. The raw details are not accessible from the public website. Only the total number of signatures is shown publicly. Your email address is never displayed publicly. Access to the stored details is restricted to authorised campaign administrators.
Emails
If email sending is switched on, we send one thank-you message to the address you signed with, to confirm your signature. We do not add you to a mailing list. The “write to your councillors” tool only opens your own email app or webmail with a draft; nothing is sent by this website, and what you type into its name and area boxes is not stored.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run the website, such as hosting, the database, spam protection and (if enabled) email delivery. They process data on our behalf. We do not sell your details.
Analytics
Optional analytics (Google Analytics and Meta Pixel) only run if you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner. We never send your name or email address to these services. See the Cookie Policy.
Retention and deletion
We keep petition details only for as long as they are needed for this campaign. When the campaign concludes, the stored details will be deleted. You can ask us to delete your signature earlier at any time.
Your rights and requests
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make a request, contact the campaign through the official SOBO Beach website at sobobeach.co.uk. Please send the email address you used to sign so we can find your entry.
Changes
We may update this policy as the campaign develops. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
