  • My mother’s home sits right above SOBO Beach and we as a family love to spend time there. It is part of the community and brings people together

  • We use it regularly on dog walks on the beach. Looking for the highest revenue to resolve BCP’s black hole is not the right thing for the community.

  • As a local family we come to sobo regularly. It’s the perfect spot for a dog walk and a coffee or lunch. It’s relaxed and comfortable. Not too touristy. It’s great for all year round and it’s somewhere we feel comfortable to bring our kids, with all the outdoor space, while we enjoy a nice coffee. There aren’t many places that tick all these boxes.

  • Sobo Beach matters to me as it has become the centre of our community. Casual meeting place for many community groups, local friends, entertainment.. it also has an inclusivity that not many places have anymore. It is affordable for all and the entertainment is affordable for all.. it is a place where locals can meet up without having to book or be turned away. The structure of the venue is sustainable, we don’t need another huge concrete building on our beach or overpriced restaurant.

  • This place is a local institution. We need to be rebuilding Bournemouth and surrounds, supporting successful community focussed businesses. The town and surrounds are failing, the council have a right to consult the public in a tangible effort to rebuild and restore. Bournemouth as a whole has so much to offer the SOBOBEACH is the place to start! Please, please listen to residents.

  • I’m a year round swimmer & regularly visit Sobo. We’ve all made friends with different groups, For example, men’s well being groups, Sobo is a safe & welcoming community not just a cafe. Bournemouth so badly needs this type of place. We don’t want more of the same . Sobo works,

  • I am genuinely devastated that the existing operation has not been successful in the tender. I fear that what may replace it will lack the warmth, understanding and local connection that makes it so vital, a loss I believe is far greater than may be apparent from official reports or even visits by elected members. For those who are vulnerable, isolated, or lonely in our community, this is not just a venue, it is a lifeline.

  • As pensioners we go for a walk along Southbourne beach and then always go for coffee in SOBO. You are the best thing to happen there and we don’t want to lose you. Devastated.

  • What a shame if this place closes down, it’s been a fantastic community social hub and brings that bit of beach to life, a great place to stop for a coffee and cake in the day or for a few social drinks on a late summers evening.
