  • SOBO Beach provides Bournemouth with an important and affordable civic location, supporting the wellbeing of the community. It acts as one of our beach side anchor locations and welcomes everyone. As a minimum, BCP should restart the tender and extend SOBO in the interim to minimise the negative impact to our community. BCP has a duty of care to protect locations of benefit to civic wellbeing.

  • It is a place that gives back to the community, for me personally it has been the place I have celebrated getting married, and had significant birthdays there. It really is a place that is exclusive and a. Place for everyone.

  • I visit Sobo Beach regularly, it's a fantastic venue for the community and holidaymakers and the only venue on the seafront between manor steps and Hengistbury Head. It's a great venue with wonderful staff. It would be a great shame to lose it.

  • It's a massive part of the local community. I live in Talbot Woods but regularly visit for events.

  • It’s a great space for locals who use the beach all year round rather than just tourists. Love grabbing coffee here when down walking the dog

  • It offers a way to connect with other people that no other place does. It provides a safe space for the community and brings everyone together.

  • It’s a great independent community hub. We don’t need a polished corporate venue here. This is a warm and welcoming spot valued by all. We don’t need any more soulless places on the seafront

  • It is a unique quirky brilliant place that engages with the community. It is well run and this business bailed out the council when their own ambitions plans for the site failed.

  • It is so much better than the previous bistro on the beach, and has been popular due to the quality of food, drink and the people that run the Sobo Beach. It also manages to appeal to all ages and due to the environment, bus and indoor seating, anyone straight from the beach can go in and not feel out of place. It is already perfect for a beachside food drink place, why change "perfect"?

  • It’s an amazing, unique place to spend time near the beach, meet people, atrend interesting events and it’s a hub for so many sections of the community. I have been looking to move to Southbourne purely because of it. If it’s no longer there, I won’t move to Southbourne. When community is diminishing everywhere, especially in beachside towns that get overtaken by tourists, this really is an essential resource for human connection and mental health.

  • It’s the only venue on that stretch of the beach and has been providing an excellent service. Has enhanced the community. The staff are friendly and efficient making it a good experience. I use it regularly summer and winter.
