  • This has become the centre of our community, celebrating our location and providing for visitors as well as locals with what they asked for and has given our town a destination of choice.

  • It’s such a lovely family beach. My son has autism and loves the beach but all the other Bournemouth beaches are too crowded. We love SoBo. Please keep it as it is.

  • It's not just a beach cafe it's a community

  • It feels like a holiday destination all year round. When I have visitors staying, this is the first place I take them, I'm so proud of it and want everyone to see it. It is the perfect mixture of somewhere to grab coffee every morning to say hi to people in the community, and a place to chill with relaxing live music, and somewhere to dance my socks off. It's the best venue, even tv have presented from here several times. Why can't that be recognised.

  • Note the postcode and how far afield it is that Sobo is felt to be of crucial and valueable importance! There is nothing else nearby that is anything like as welcoming and worth driving 45 minutes to take advantage of ! It would be a huge shame and loss for the locality and for many others for miles around, for sobo to no longer be there !! Please don’t underestimate its value- Protect sobo !

  • We love it. We gather here with friends. It’s the funkiest beach cafe with nothing else quite like it in Dorset

  • SOBO Beach in Southbourne, Bournemouth, should stay open because it has grown far beyond a seasonal café or bar into a genuine year-round community hub with a distinctive chilled, inclusive vibe that no new operator can simply replicate. Opened around 2022 on Southbourne Promenade, SOBO has become the social heart of the area. Its palm trees, open-top bus bar, Flamin-Go Grill and Wok-Shack kitchens, Upper Deck and beachside seating create a relaxed, slightly hip, Miami-meets-Southbourne.

  • Community, tribe, atmosphere, companionship, it’s what Bournemouth beaches have been crying out for. To remove this will be ripping the heart and soul out of something you can’t buy.

  • Great place! Great Vibes! Great People ! Reasonably priced, never any trouble just people having a good time.

  • It’s a great venue, well run and a real benefit to the local area. The appearance, styling and facilities enhance the beach front for locals a visitors alike. . More frustrating is the council appear to want to change the license holder at SOBO, who do a wonderful job, but granted a new license for people running Cafe Riva, which is badly in need of refurbishment, truly terrible service and extortionately priced. (Not the side bars & vendors, but the main building)

  • Great place to meet friends and enjoy a beach view.

  • So enjoyable to be so close to the safe beach and lots of choice of food and drink. Locals are so lucky to have this on their door step with easy access for wheelchair users. Such a great place to meet up for people on their own or in groups. Was lovely watching families with young ones and their dogs playing on the sand. Please keep going

  • We need more community social spaces like this rather than another expensive restaurant

Louise, Poole · signed 2 days ago

  • The SOBO beach community are essential for the area and have bought life, soul, and people together. BCP need to renew the lease and do something right for the community.

  • Whenever I come to Bournemouth (usually at least six times per year as my daughter lives in Southbourne) I absolutely love the friendly, happy atmosphere there.
