  • SOBO Beach has brought the community together in such a short amount of time. Yes they are a profit organisation but how many other establishments will willingly give so much thought and care back in to the community. Simply removing during a planning period for new tenants makes no sense and BCP clearly do not take the community impact in to consideration.

  • It is a vibrant community venue frequented by many people across all ages. Nothing else like it on the whole beach front in BCP area. Don’t change something that really works.

  • SOBO is a huge part of our community. We love to visit for a drink & the food is AMAZING. Friends & family visiting the area also love it. There is nowhere else to go on that part of the beach so would be really sad if it went.

  • SOBO means so much more to me than just a venue on the beach. When I got sober it became a special place where I could enjoy Sunday afternoons surrounded by lovely people, great music & a beautiful relaxed atmosphere.Being able to sit by the sea feel the sand beneath my feet & enjoy the music in a peaceful environment became a big part of my sober journey. It showed me that I could still have fun, meet people and enjoy life without alcohol. Please don’t take away something that bring so much joy

  • It’s a wonderful place that caters for everyone. From morning swims to evening dance parties, it’s far greater than the sum of its parts.

  • It’s a great community hub, somewhere to get a coffee, beer and food as well as the many amazing events they put on. It is now a go to place whenever I have friends or family visit and had the right character for Southbourne and a beach front cafe.

  • I used to use the Sobo beach Cafe which was pulled down to make way for a new complex which the council shelved this has been a great replacement and I use regularly my family also love it when they come to visit it is a great draw for the area and generates income

  • I visit Sobo often for morning coffees and evening drinks with friends - it is a popular place for locals to visit all year around and would be disappointing if it was removed. People will most likely not visit the new establishment if Sobo is replaced

  • It’s a fantastic starting point for a beach walk!

Paul, Surrey & Hampshire · signed 4 days ago

  • It’s a place to meet friends locally. I can walk . Great opening hours so you can go morning or evening, just a casual beach style shack with food, drink and music is all that’s needed.

  • It's a brilliant space to get together by the beach with family and friends! Would be awful if our council ruined yet another nice place in Bournemouth!!

  • I come to Dorset many times a year - there are other counties i could go to but the lure and community friendliness of SOBO tips the balance and draws me back every time. Without this place i would probably go elsewhere.
